Top Three Foods for Wellness

After my son was born, I found it more difficult to find easy-to-grab meals. To get through the mid-morning and afternoon energy slumps that motherhood brought, smoothies became a convenient remedy. Truthfully, nutrition wasn’t a priority up to this point, but this time became the beginning of my wellness journey.

Here are my top three foods to eat for wellness:

- Dark, leafy veggies. Spinach + kale my favorite because they are full of pure goodness that works together for a healthy scalp + mane. Leafy greens also help keep hair moisturized so it won’t break.

- Orange fruits + veggies. Sweet potatoes, carrots, cantaloupe and mangoes are my go-to’s. The beta-carotene in them is turned into Vitamin A, which helps protect against dry, dull hair.

- Fish, seeds, nuts. Salmon, tuna, chia seeds and walnuts are a staple for me. A vegan option that I also love is tofu, which is rich in keratin.

Good or bad, everything you eat can be detected in your hair and nails. Turns out you ARE actually what you eat! https://www.healthgrades.com/right-care/skin-hair-and-nails/the-8-best-foods-for-your-skin-hair-and-nails

Here is my go-to smoothie recipe. I will throw in a scoop of Total Greens found here: https://mymonat.com/shop/products/total-greens if I am on the go. They are the Monat Greens, but I used to use the Alkamind Greens. They can be found here: https://www.getoffyouracid.com/collections/daily-greens/products/daily-greens-naked

The important part is finding quality greens! I invest my time in finding quality products that I love before I share with others.

Chocolate Cherry Smoothie

1 teaspoon chia seeds

1 teaspoon flax seeds

2 teaspoons raw cacao powder

Estee tip: Combine all your dry ingredients in a mason jar with a scoop for smoothie making on the fly.
